Welcome to Mrs. Abbott’s Dream Team
Hello Parent,
I hope everyone is doing well and please let your child know I am missing and thinking about them every day! Your child can message me using itlearning if there are any questions/comments on anything. Here is a video link in case they forgot how to do this. In addition, I wanted to give families a little time to acclimate and I don't want to overwhelm students/parents with too much. Below is a reminder from Mr. Hubble on things to keep in mind when your child does their daily schedule/activities. I will be posting things in Google Classroom. Also, I created a weekly schedule (some other teachers created and are also using) that may be helpful too. I will update as needed. Here is the link to it. However, I will also create a topic in GC. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Ni9dOJ223-ma1VAimN-xbhdfMfDhovrjZT4ddV4lQdM/edit
I am also communicating through my blog which can be accessed through Mr. Hubble updates. In addition, I created a blog topic in Classroom and students can access it there. If you have any questions/concerns you may also email me or text. My number is 269-420-2727. The hours I'm available will be Monday-Friday 12-2:) Please let me know who you are since I don't have most parent numbers on my phone. Again, I hope this information is helpful. Stay well and take care:)
Things to keep in mind from Mr. Hubble:
Remember, we aren’t expecting rigorous learning all day, every day. Even here at school, we take time for recess, lunch, snack, class meetings, and personal connections. When building your schedule, consider time for connections and recreation, too!
Our focus during the time away is to practice and enrich learning that has already occurred this school year. Our teacher teams will communicate with families each week to share options and to keep us connected as a school family. Additional information is posted below.
Movement and a change of scenery can do wonders for learning! Spreading learning out throughout the day instead of making one long chunk will be better for your child’s focus, concentration, and overall attitude about the task. Please consider having a few different areas of your home designated for specific tasks - that will feel more like school. For example, your child can do his/her daily reading in a cozy spot, computer tasks at a table or desk, and creative work in the kitchen or yard.
Computer access is a potentially powerful tool for self-directed learning, keeping in mind that your child will need monitoring to ensure active learning is occurring.
It is important to keep your child in a normal routine and schedule during this time. Here is an example of a daily checklist you may want to use to keep a routine:
*Core 5 20 minutes
*Reading 20 minutes - take a Reading Counts Test?
*Math Choice 20 minutes (IXL, Mobymax, Flashcards)
*Alternate Art/Music/Gym Lesson activity each day
*20-30 minutes of fresh air
