Dear Parent or Guadian,

We had a wonderful first week back! This next week on Thurs. Jan. 16th our class will be taking the NWEA reading assessment. We will begin promptly at 8:45. Please consider not making appointments and being on-time for school. Thank you:) The 4th graders will be embarking on a social studies/research/technology assignment that will have many layers to it. In social studies, we have been reading stories that have had a historical impact on the U.S. i.e. dust bowl, orphan trains,  immigration, Oregon Trail, Underground Railroad to name a few. Most of these events took place because of either positive or negative "push & pull" factors. Now that our 4th graders have some schema as to the when, why and how's of these events, they are going to get the opportunity to choose an event of interest, research and write an informational piece, as well as present the event using a piece of technology. This last week Mr. Pratley and Mrs. Bacolor presented to our students how to use a Green Screen, Powtoons, Screencastify, and WeVideo. Due to the enormity of this task, it will take a few weeks to put together. Once we are finished families will be invited to come to the school and see the finished products! These technology presentations will also be part of our Annual Technology Festival in the spring. Students will be choosing the event of their choice and starting research this next week.

There are videos and you can also respond in your Science journal or create a Google Doc and share it with me. If you need extra reading material you can go to Epic in Symbaloo.
