Sarett Nature Center
The 4th grade will be going to Sarett this Thursday, May 9th from 12:40 to 2:30. Sorry for the short notice, but they just had a cancellation and could fit us in. Parents are welcome to meet us there! We should arrive around 1:00 and there is a $3 entrance fee for parents. Be prepared for a short presentation of animals in our area and a short hike. Kids should dress in layers for the weather that day, wear sunscreen, and bug spray. If it’s raining, we will view the animal displays indoors. Thanks for making this a fun trip!

      Testing went well so far this week! Look below for subsequent testing dates for both NWEA and M-Step. Please mark your calendars and try to have your child in school on these days. We are allowing shorter testing times and more breaks along with gum chewing:) When students are absent it is more difficult to give them the same breaks and students do not get the same quiet areas because everyone else could be finished. It's more difficult and could effect their score because of the limitations we have in the classroom. Thank you for your understanding.
     Next week is the start of the busy end-of-the-year "fun activities"! Next Friday we will go to the Planetarium for about 45 minutes. Afterward, we will go to the track meet. It's at Upton Middle School this year not the high school. So around 11 we will head over to Upton. The track meet will begin around 11:30. For Lincoln school 4th graders the first event will be the shot put/standing long jump. Please dress your child according to the weather. Also, that evening the annual St. Joseph Tech Fest will be at the High School. If you have a little extra time it's a great event that showcases the many different ways we utilize technolgy on a daily basis in our schools. All are welcome!

  Welcome to Mrs. Abbott’s Dream Team! Dear Parent or Guadian, We had a wonderful first week back! This next week on Thurs. Jan. 16th our class will be taking the NWEA reading assessment. We will begin promptly at 8:45. Please consider not making appointments and being on-time for school. Thank you:) The 4th graders will be embarking on a social studies/research/technology assignment that will have many layers to it. In social studies, we have been reading stories that have had a historical impact on the U.S. i.e. dust bowl, orphan trains,  immigration, Oregon Trail, Underground Railroad to name a few. Most of these events took place because of either positive or negative "push & pull" factors. Now that our 4th graders have some schema as to the when, why and how's of these events, they are going to get the opportunity to choose an event of interest, research and write an informational piece, as well as present ...

Mrs. Abbott's Dream Team Dear Families, Our class received the most RC points for 4th grade! We encourage you to try to do the nightly activities as well, so students can earn additional points. We are all set for chaperones. Everyone who sent in a request and has filled out and returned the background check can go. The trip to Lansing will be Friday, March 22nd. Thank you for your help and understanding. Also, for anyone who signed up for snacks, please continue to send in with your child .  We would like them in by next Monday so we can start putting the mix together.
