Dear Families,
Our Read-In on Friday was a huge success! We had about an hour and 10 minutes of uninterrupted time for reading. Students were snuggled up with their blankets, pillows and favorite stuffed animals and of course books. What an amazing sight! They were given their passports for March Reading Month so they can record their individual Reading Counts points throughout the month. During the Read-In, our class was able to earn 160 RC points! The sense of pride and accomplishment was overwhelming for all of us. An informational letter went home on Friday explaining the details of March Reading Month. There are some important dates. Please take time to look it over.
Just a reminder for your calenders, our 4th grade trip to Lansing will be Friday, March 22nd. We
had 18 chaperone notes turned in. I'm not sure yet the number we are allowed. As the notes were 
turned in, I numbered them. I think we are still okay, but may be at the limit. Thank you for your 
help and understanding. More information will be coming home in the weeks to follow.

In support of our social studies curriculum, our 4th-grade students have studied the main regions of the U.S. Students selected a famous person from the region and will be presenting a biography. We welcome families to come on April 24th from 1:00-3:00 to see all of the many different presentations! More information will be coming.      Below are the important testing dates coming up in May for NWEA and M-Step. Please mark your calendars and try to have your child in school on these days.   Welcome to Mrs. Abbott’s Dream Team! Dear Parent or Guadian, We had a wonderful first week back! This next week on Thurs. Jan. 16th our class will be taking the NWEA reading assessment. We will begin promptly at 8:45. Please consider not making appointments and being on-time for school. Thank you:) The 4th graders will be embarking on a social studies/research/technology assignment that will have many layers to it. In social studies, we have been reading stories that have had a historical impact on the U.S. i.e. dust bowl, orphan trains,  immigration, Oregon Trail, Underground Railroad to name a few. Most of these events took place because of either positive or negative "push & pull" factors. Welcome to Mrs. Abbott’s Dream Team! Dear Families,     Thank you to all the parents who are able to send in money for Laps for Lincoln. Our class had amazing collections for Lincoln School! It was wonderful to see all the families come out to support such an amazing tradition. We can't thank you enough.      The Student-Led Conferences begin this next Thursday, Oct. 10th. and will continue into the following week.
