Dear Families,

Report cards will be sent home the week of February 25th. In addition, conferences for some students will begin during this time frame. As many of you know, conferences for 2nd Trimester is done primarily on an "as needed basis" for students needing additional academic, social or emotional support.  I will be contacting parents by email for whom that applies to. I will also indicate on the report card in the comments section whether or not I feel it necessary to meet for a conference. However, if for any reason you have any concerns or questions about your child and would like to meet please contact me via email and/or we can set up a time to meet. We can always discuss by phone too:) My door is always open.
The Valentines Day party will be low key in our classroom this year. Students can bring in a Valentines Day card for every student. They can also create a themed container i.e, box or bag to hold the cards. However, it's not mandatory:) I have a parent committee who signed up at the Parent Night in September. They are arranging small food items to be brought in that day. However, if you want to send something else in as well, that would be fine. For a short time at the end of the day, the students will pass out their cards, and eat their snacks and enjoy reading the cards. The following is the class list of names for the cards.

Mrs. Abbott's Dream Team Dear Families,      I hope everyone enjoyed spring break! We have an important program coming up in April. In support of our social studies curriculum, our 4th-grade students have studied the main regions of the U.S. Students selected a famous person from the region and will be presenting a biography. We welcome families to come on April 24th from 1:00-3:00 to see all of the many different presentations! More information will be coming.      Below are the important testing dates coming up in May for NWEA and M-Step. Please mark your calendars and try to have your child in school on these days.   Welcome to Mrs. Abbott’s Dream Team! Dear Parent or Guadian, We had a wonderful first week back! This next week on Thurs. Jan. 16th our class will be taking the NWEA reading assessment. We will begin promptly at 8:45. Please consider not making appointments and being on-time for school. Thank you:) The 4th graders will be embarking on a social studies/research/technology assignment that will have many layers to it. In social studies, we have been reading stories that have had a historical impact on the U.S. i.e. dust bowl, orphan trains,  immigration, Oregon Trail, Underground Railroad to name a few. Most of these events took place because of either positive or negative "push & pull" factors. Mrs. Abbott's Dream Team Dear Families, Our class received the most RC points for 4th grade! We encourage you to try to do the nightly activities as well, so students can earn additional points. We are all set for chaperones. Everyone who sent in a request and has filled out and returned the background check can go. The trip to Lansing will be Friday, March 22nd. Thank you for your help and understanding. Also, for anyone who signed up for snacks, please continue to send in with your child .  We would like them in by next Monday so we can start putting the mix together.
